Hello dear Migros,
In my opinion, it has somehow become very quiet about price reductions. It seems to me that the markdowns are communicated in a big way when the topic is very topical in the newspapers. As soon as the topic disappears from the front pages of the daily newspapers, hardly any prices are reduced.
Cosmetic prices in Switzerland are still outrageous. Even oral hygiene products such as Listerine are still almost twice as expensive. And why is there almost never a 50% promotion on Pampers, even though a very large proportion of your customers in nearby Germany buy Pampers?
Sometimes I hope that DM or Rossman will come to Switzerland and shake up the cosmetics market.
I'm also annoyed by the countless promotions for 2 or more items. Like last week's pan promotion. I have to buy 2 pans to benefit from the 50%. What about the people who only want one? This week the avocados are on sale from 2 pcs. but there are many small households who might only want one avocado and therefore have to pay the full price?
In general, I don't find these 2 or more pieces promotions very customer-friendly....
I also find some of the discounts at Migros very funny. There was once a children's chocolate promotion that was only 5 or 10% cheaper. However, in my weekly Edeka brochure, I saw the exact same promotion there at 34%.
I hope Migros makes progress in this area, because border shopping will continue to cost jobs in Switzerland....
PS. I would welcome it if Migros were to join a shopping alliance. Why doesn't Migros join forces with some chains such as Edeka, Tesco, Ahold and buy branded products for its customers at low cost... as these chains are under attack in their home markets, especially from Aldi and Lidl.
Kind regards
