Riso Ticinese
I have always liked using Riso Ticinese for risotto because it has a very good consistency and taste and is not transported all over the world.
The last time I bought this rice, it was no longer on the shelf. Why?

Hello @Danisand
Welcome to Migipedia and thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, Riso Ticinese is currently only available in the Ticino cooperative due to supply problems caused by the harvest.
However, the rice will be available again in all cooperatives and stores from the next harvest, i.e. from around October. I hope you can find an equivalent substitute in the meantime. For example, I also like to cook with our organic risotto, maybe that's something for you to tide you over?
Best wishes and have a nice rest of Monday

As you know, Ticino rice has not been available in German-speaking Switzerland for a long time, and even in Ticino it is currently only available at 3 locations in 1-2 kg packages. The Migros offer says "Only available seasonally" - hence my question: When is this season? Will it be available again in German-speaking Switzerland? - or will this local risotto rice be removed from the Migros range and no longer be available ? https://produkte.migros.ch/tessiner-reis

Hello Polarstern90, due to the low rice harvest in Ticino, we only sell the rice in the branches of the Ticino Cooperative. Unfortunately, we have run out of stock at the moment, which is why the product is only available in some Ticino branches. We hope that we will be able to offer the rice nationally again next year. In the meantime, we recommend the M-Classic Risotto Baldo: https://produkte.migros.ch/m-classic-risotto-baldo. Best regards, Noemi

In Ticino, various types of Ticino rice were washed and packaged in the Riseria Taverne. The Riseria Taverne has disappeared into Delica AG. This company no longer lists rice among its products, Migros stores are full of foreign rice, Swiss rice is disappearing. In the long term, Migros is harming Switzerland because so many production sites are simply disappearing.

Unfortunately, the fact is that Migros is increasingly moving away from Swiss products in favor of hype products. I understand that Migros in the rest of Switzerland cannot take over products from Migros Ticino on a large scale - that's why we go to Migros in San Antonino or Lugano every year (and our friends do the same and we help each other out) and do our shopping there for several households. Unfortunately, Migros is also withdrawing from local products there and we are then forced to switch to more expensive places. I would like to share with you one such place where you can still buy a wide selection of local products: Gusto Ticino in 6593 Cadenazzo - the very eye-catching store is located next to the Cadenazzo train station on the main road towards Locarno https://gustoticino.ch/?s=Riso&submit=&post_type=product

If you had read the text above, it says that the quantity of Ticino rice is never sufficient for Ticino, and certainly not for the whole of Migros... and no, there has never been more Swiss rice than this one variety.

Unfortunately you are wrong, when the Riseria was still listed as an independent company, there were also several Ticino rice varieties in the Migros stores. These are now sold in other locations at much higher prices.

Then please name them... in Migros, there was never more than this variety... and even if... most of them come from Italy... as if these kilometers make the rice so much better now than it is when it says Switzerland on it...

I'm not saying that Italian rice is bad, but the rice from the Po Valley is getting less and less (lack of water). There is also less water in the Maggia, but still enough. We also have to make sure that we keep our work in Switzerland. I can't list all the rice varieties sold by Migros and I don't know whether Delea (also MIGROS) still produces all the varieties. Migros also sold, for example. Terreni alla Maggia, "Riso Nostrano" Ticinese da Risotto Loto e500g (as an example), now only at very high prices in special stores. Delea is also not based in Ticino but in Baselland.

Hello brunino, the availability of Ticino rice has not changed since our last feedback. However, the Riseria is still available. We have decided to move our own industrial operations a little closer and some products are therefore now labeled Delica AG. Kind regards, Chloe
