How can it be that onions are labeled "market-fresh" even though they come from New Zealand (!!!)?
I am aware that due to the summer of 2018, demand cannot be met with onions from Switzerland.
But I find it absolutely incomprehensible why onions can be imported from New Zealand (ship?) for a price of just CHF 2.80 per kilo and then be labeled as "market fresh"!

We can understand if the term "market-fresh" raises questions. However, "market fresh" does not indicate the regionality of the products, which is what the label "From the region" stands for. "Market-fresh" refers to the freshness of fruit and vegetables, which is also guaranteed when they are imported and transported by ship.
There are weekly prices in the F&G area. These are renegotiated on a weekly basis with the aim of always achieving the best price/performance ratio for customers. Of course, supply and demand play an important role.

Maybe have a look at the competition, they still have Swiss onions. And they don't sprout just a few days after purchase, like the Migros goods.

We have had Swiss onions on sale again since last week. However, as there is still some stock left in the stores, it will probably be a few more days before Swiss goods can be found everywhere.
