Dog food fresh meat WITHOUT pork

Hundefutter Frischfleisch OHNE Schweinefleisch

The fresh meat dog food seems to be doing well. I was told this by a head butcher in a large store. We also feed our dog raw. We usually order meat directly from the butcher. Or we feed them fresh chicken.

Migros sells fresh raw dog food. This consists of beef lung, pork lung and various different offal from pork and beef.

We would like to buy this too. However, there is a big problem. It must NEVER be fed raw. Because it has pork in it. That is extremely dangerous.

When feeding pork, it is particularly important to only offer it cooked.
Pork can contain trichinae, which are small threadworms that encapsulate themselves in the muscles of the pig. If your dog eats the raw muscle meat, it can also become infected. Boiling the meat kills the trichinae. Although the occurrence of trichinae has become relatively rare due to the nationwide trichinae inspection, you should not take any unnecessary risks here.

Even more important is the Aujeszky's virus (a herpes virus), the causative agent of so-called "pseudo-rabies", a disease similar to rabies. Dogs can become infected by eating raw pork; an infection is usually fatal for dogs. Unfortunately, the pathogen is not as rare as is often claimed. Wild boar in particular are often affected and, under unfavorable conditions, can infect organic pigs kept on pasture, for example. It is therefore highly recommended that pork is boiled.

But as we feed raw, boiling is out of the question. It would be great if the feed was also available without pork.
