Will there be glass bottles in Migros again in the near future? I would like to raise this issue again because I am not at all convinced by the "PET is easier to handle" argument... Migros wants to be sustainable. But that doesn't just start with recycling. An exciting concept, e.g. an empty 12-carton cup to fill yourself with your favorite drinks or something like that would be great. You can do everything else too. Why not?

Hello Amanda_R, thank you very much for your contribution. We can well understand your reasoning! Glass is made from sand and lime and is easy to recycle. However, a lot of energy is needed to produce and recycle glass - especially for melting it down. This energy, in turn, requires crude oil. In addition, glass bottles, for example, are many times heavier than plastic bottles. In addition to the higher material consumption, this also has ecological disadvantages during transportation, as more fuel is used than for lightweight plastic bottles. From an ecological point of view, this means that due to the significantly lower material consumption, the environmental impact of plastic bottles is usually much lower than that of glass bottles. I agree with you, I also think drinks in glass are better and more ecological than PET.

I am physically disabled and have a muscle disease. In the meantime, I can no longer hold anything made of glass. So I'm glad when there are pet bottles, I can still hold them. Many people who want glass items are not aware that they are taking away the independence of people like me. I therefore ask Migros to leave the pet bottles, there must still be items that we people with muscle disease can still use. Thank you very much for your consideration :)

I agree, the "healthy" people like to forget what happens when such a bottle falls down and breaks into 1000 pieces, I am glad that there are pet bottles, which can also be refilled with "tap water" for some time, which also saves money.

Exactly what you describe is one of the problems. People who are not disabled often can't understand how problematic it is when a glass bottle hits the floor (because the strength in your hands is often suddenly gone) and then shatters into a thousand pieces. Apart from the fact that shards are not so good for the tires of my electric wheelchair...
