an excellent smartphone app called E numbers informs me about what's behind the E-codes in the food industry.

Buying Burgers Buns, I see that they contain E471 and E481.
Apart from the fact that they're very unhealthy, the application tells me that the substance can come from plants as well as animal derivatives.

My question is simple: are you able to confirm that these products are exclusively of plant origin and that these Buns can be considered vegan?

Regarding your question, our product range manager has given me the following information: emulsifiers such as those you mentioned (E 471 and E 481) are based on fat components (fatty acids or glycerine). The fat used in the manufacture of this article is normally of vegetable origin (palm kernel oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, etc.). Theoretically, however, it can also be of animal origin (pork and/or beef fat). However, JOWA, which manufactures these buns, only uses vegetable emulsifiers. The E 471 and E 481 emulsifiers contained in the hamburger buns are therefore not of animal origin.
