Beta version of new Migipedia forum: Feedback welcome
Philipp_Migros
If you are reading this post, then you are in the Migipedia forum, which we have been overhauling over the last few weeks. We are constantly investing in the further development and improvement of the Migros community platform. Even so, we admit we've neglected the forum somewhat in recent months.
There are many reasons for this. But instead of going on at length about why this was, I would rather introduce you to the new forum.
Today, a so-called "beta" version went online. "Beta" means that we are offering the new forum alongside the old one for now, collecting your feedback, and giving you an opportunity to accompany us on the last leg of the development. You can access the beta version via the "To the new forum ️↗" link on the forum homepage or by clicking on the blue button above.
What's new on the forum?
Quite a lot. However, before I go into the new features, I'd like to point out one last thing: In principle, the new forum offers the same functions as you have in the existing one. But now let's look at the new features.
The first thing you'll probably notice is the design. This is now even more closely aligned with the appearance of the other Migipedia pages.
Nevertheless, we're focusing more on our own contributions and the categories "Products," "Shopping," "Cumulus," "Migipedia," and "General" by providing direct access to them from the forum homepage. We're convinced this will enable you to discuss specific topics in a more targeted way and find what you're looking for faster. Let's stay with faster searching for a moment. The category pages now contain a search function that looks only within that particular category. Sure, that means fewer results. But these will be more relevant.
One of the biggest innovations - although it's not obvious - is the way we handle the four languages: German, French, Italian, and English. Up to now, we had a separate forum for every language. As a result, German speakers weren't aware of what was being discussed in Italian. In other words, until now we had four forums in different languages, each with different discussions. We no longer differentiate in the new forum. Now we have just one forum containing all the discussions.
How do we manage that with the four languages? Machine translation, which we've had plenty of positive experiences with in recent months and years, for example in product reviews. All the discussions are therefore now available to everyone, regardless of their language. Just as with product reviews, we also indicate in the forum if a discussion or a reply to it has been posted in a different language. You can then switch to the original language.
Last but not least, we can now "pin" individual posts to the forum homepage. This allows us to share specific discussions with you in a more targeted way, regardless of their category. We think these are the most important innovations, or at least the most obvious ones. More will follow, but not without your involvement.
Feedback is always welcome
A little further up I wrote that we are collecting your feedback on the new forum, and inviting you to join us on the remaining development journey. Please tell us what you think about the new forum. What do you like? What's not quite ready? Please also report any errors to us.
You can publish your feedback directly in reply to this post, or access the feedback function via the blue button above.
We promise the beta version doesn't mark the end of the development of the new Migipedia forum. Additional functions will be added over the coming weeks and months. Nevertheless, it's important for us to share the status of our work with you, and take your feedback on board. Let's embark on this journey together! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your involvement and feedback.
Best regards,
Philipp
