Thanks for bringing this up again. I can understand the need for this. Could I ask you for a few more thoughts on this?
- Would you be okay with being able to blacklist certain users when writing a post so they wouldn’t see it at all?
- Or should users you "mark" simply be unable to interact with your post?
- Should everyone be able to interact, but you wouldn’t be notified if users you’ve marked post a reply, for example?
I’d love to learn a bit more about where your thoughts are heading here. After all, transparency should remain a priority. Hiding certain users requires just as much tact as blocking or deleting them.

My main goal is to block certain users so that I no longer see any posts from User XYZ.
But I suspect that will be very difficult to implement technically.

I’d like to exchange a few thoughts with you on this. What do you (and, of course, everyone else reading this) think of an implementation that might look like this:
- In the activity stream, as well as in reviews, etc., there is a feature that allows you to hide individual users’ replies.
- One option we’ve discussed is that the post would remain visible but be hidden. By “hidden,” I mean a blurred display. At most, it would be truncated. You’d still see the user’s name, but not the content.
- However, posts are only hidden for users who mark a post accordingly.
- If you mark a user’s post, all of that user’s posts will be hidden from you.
- Only you can undo the hiding.
- You will no longer receive emails when a user you have hidden reacts to one of their posts.
- Users who are hidden by others are not notified.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
