Why is the German word "Sirup" translated into French as "sirup"?

Pourquoi le mot allemand "Sirup" est-il traduit en français par "sirup" ?

For years, the French-language Migipédia website referred to syrups simply as “sirop.” Now, product names include terms like “sirup citron” or “sirup baies,” for example. In my naivety, I thought that artificial “intelligence” translation software was improving over time and with use. Was I wrong?
