Wiener schnitzel at the Migros restaurant in Brugg

Wiener-Schnitzel im Migros Restaurant in Brugg

Hi everyone

I wanted to eat Wiener Schnitzel in the Migros restaurant today. What I got was a piece of thin meat with a hard breadcrumb coating on it.

I was amazed when the 'chef', let's call him that, took a breaded piece of meat from a storage dish and heated it on both sides on a Teppan Yaki. And that was it. With all good nature, it was a simple, badly breaded schnitzel, far from being a Wiener schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was dry, but not tough. You can let that pass under schnitzel

But: A Wiener schnitzel is very thinly breaded and, very importantly, made from veal. The meat should then be turned in a beaten egg and loosely breaded. Then fry the piece of meat briefly on both sides in floating hot butter. There should be air bubbles, then I have a real Wiener schnitzel.

Clearly you can't sell this over the counter for 21 francs, as Migros does. Plus a portion of chips as a side dish and a homemade salad plate.

But I would have had the schnitzel for 30 francs if it had been a real Wienerschnitzel.

I satisfied my hunger, but not my craving for a real Wiener schnitzel. I'll make up for that in a real restaurant soon.

Kind regards
Walter Heid
