Hello everyone
Of course, palm oil is a topic that often concerns us. Basically, it has been discussed several times and for Migros it looks like this: Migros has been committed to sustainable palm oil for around 20 years. For 98 percent of the palm oil we use, we even know the plantations from which we source our palm oil. Migros ensures that, among other things, no rainforests are cut down, no peat bogs are destroyed and no critical pesticides are used.
We use palm oil because it is still better than other oils. Be it in terms of yield in relation to the area under cultivation or for its use. It is versatile and does not have to be hardened beforehand like other oils. Sustainable palm oil is better than other oils. Nevertheless, you already have a choice with some of our products: for example, we have a margarine with only rapeseed oil on the shelf.

Thanks for the explanation from Migros.
But to be honest, I distrust this sustainability statement just as much as the organic logo. In my opinion, palm oil is simply used because it is cheaper than other oils. It can be found in products where not even any oil belongs. e.g. dry spice mix (admittedly, I don't remember if this was from Migros) It seems to me like a few years ago when wheat flour was everywhere (in ice cream!!!) as a filling material.
I will continue to try to avoid palm oil, but unfortunately I am finding it increasingly difficult with Migros products.
