Although planned by a star architect, the optimal access and exit route does not really seem to have been understood.
An optimized traffic routing with few intersections and accident safety would be as follows:
Freeway from Bern: Dynamic traffic routing, preferably via northern access, exit via southern exit. This is possible in principle, but few people actually use it.
Freeway from Murten or Niederbottigen:
South entrance,
Exit to Murten/motorway northern exit,
Exit to Niederbottig southern exit
Gäbelbach/Frauenkappelen:
Entrance and exit north entrance, today both forbidden, reason not comprehensible. Only generates additional traffic
Better signage would relieve congestion in and around Westside.
In addition, the traffic light control around the highway entrance and exit is incomprehensible. Gäbelbach in the direction of Migrolino: the right lane is green, the left lane regularly pauses for a full cycle of traffic lights, even though there is hardly any traffic...
