Hello Cartmen, We work closely with the Swiss food banks andTischleinDeck Dich. These institutions collect food from us and then pass it on to distribution points in various communities, where people in need can buy it at a symbolic price. I can't tell you whether this is exactly the case with the sandwiches you mention here. I don't think ready-made sandwiches can be kept fresh long enough to be passed on. So the sandwiches from Migros are no longer passed on as food and probably end up in a compost-gas plant? The Äss-Bar shows that the sandwiches can still be sold the next day. There, the sandwiches are collected from artisan bakeries and offered at half price for another day: http://www.aess-bar.ch
The problem with the Migros sandwiches is probably the quality, so that after a short time they would simply no longer be edible to pass on.
