Why not acquire Migros Türk?

Warum nicht Migros Türk aneignen?

Hello everyone
As a big Migros fan, I am annoyed by Migros' sluggish expansion abroad. It seems to me that wherever there is potential for success, they simply give up and invest where there is nothing to gain. And when I think of Migros Turkey, I am always disappointed anew. According to Wikipedia, Migros Türk is now the largest supermarket chain in Turkey and also operates abroad, in other words: a huge success. Migros Türk was up for sale in 2008 and there was little interest. Why on earth doesn't Migros take back its own earnings and buy Migros Türk? Apart from the logo and a few products, you wouldn't have to change much for Migros Türk to fit in with the Migros Group, because everything is almost the same. Migros is far too peaceful abroad and not aggressive enough. Lidl or Aldi would have struck immediately if they had been in this situation. Dear Migros, please use your money, which has become so large that you no longer seem to know how to spend it and instead invest in pointless companies like Tegut, sensibly for once and get back what actually belongs to you and what you are entitled to. Then the Swiss would finally have the opportunity to see what they are used to abroad. In addition, it would certainly be an enrichment, because two (almost) identical supermarket chains have had different experiences over the last almost 50 years, and one could certainly benefit, perhaps also in terms of expansion strategies to boost the France-Germany business a little...
The orange hearts of many Migros fans would finally be satisfied.

Hello

Interesting proposal, but Migros can't handle it. The Basel cooperative has driven the Migros-Germany project up the wall. Delivering Migros products to Turkey and then being stuck with them, as happened in nearby Germany, is a risk Migros won't take.

When the Zurich cooperative bought Tegut, Blunschi said that it would be better to continue running Tegut than to open Migros stores in Germany. Tegut is by no means pointless, as Migros already has a small chain in Germany. More interesting, of course, are their suppliers and producers, who also supply Migros with Tegut. It is significant that Migros has been offering more and more EU products over the past few years, replacing those produced in Switzerland. As long as the packaging looks the same, it's easy to do. You can still advertise with "from us" and "from here", hardly anyone notices. If they do, they claim it's just an exception, as has already happened, but you can't be too embarrassed to make cheeky excuses. :-)

The Zurich cooperative also wanted to buy 130 Tegelmann stores in Bavaria, which was rejected at the beginning of this year. This means that Migros is keeping its money for the time being and will try to get a slice of the foreign pie at the next opportunity.
Migros has been practicing shopping tourism for years for pecuniary reasons, according to its own statements here in the forum. Apparently it is still easier and more profitable for them to rip off customers on the high-price island of Switzerland than to learn real business skills, expand abroad and increase their influence. Cheating is easier than working. :-)

Good evening @MMM03

Migros Türk is much more flexible, as it is not organized as a cooperative and would be too big for the small Migros Switzerland!

Hello

In addition, the sales price of Migros Türk around 2008 was 1.5 billion euros
How big was the store network in 2008 and how big is it today? What would be the price of Migros Türk today? My knowledge of Turkish is limited to a couple of ferrets, so I can't find out for myself.

Besides, Migros Türk is a highly profitable company
This raises the question of why the "highly profitable company" is for sale at all?

Kind regards Migi-Ferkel

Hello@MMM03

That's actually an input I've never heard here before. I have passed on your idea. The people responsible for Migros' strategic development regularly analyze the market and the opportunities and examine our commitments very closely. I can't tell you at the moment whether this is an option for Migros.

Kind regards

Tanja

Good morning@Tanja_Migros

Shares of the largest supermarket chain Migros Ticaret A.Ş. were offered for 26 TL/share at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015!
