Today I was standing in front of the butter shelf again. Actually, I buy "normal" butter.
Question: Why are there sooo many different types of butter? Is it really necessary or is it really a "customer need", which is a mystery to me. Butter is butter. Period. I don't understand it.

I wrote quite a bit about butter in the reviews and answers section, because there do seem to be differences.
If you have a few minutes, you can read about the different types of butter here or if you want to know more, you can read the FDHA Ordinance on Food of Animal Origin (817.022.108), Chapter 11: Dairy products, Section 7: Milk spreads, butter preparations and other butter products.
I have been buying organic butter for years. For some time now there has been organic cooking butter and preferred butter. However, in a possible blind test, none of them could be preferred.

The product "Die Butter" is the product protected by the butter industry organization, which is strongly committed to the milk and butter industry in Switzerland. It contains 95% prefermented butter, which indicates the high quality of this product. The butter is made from Swiss raw materials.
Cooking butter is not protected by the organization. It is made from raw materials from Switzerland. Cooking butter is Migros' own brand and is therefore only available from us.
We know the following system for differentiating butter:
- Preferred butter, which is made only from milk cream (1st quality grade)
- Cooking butter contains syrup cream and milk cream and may be frozen (2nd quality level)
- Sirten cream butter (3rd quality level)
We hope that this information will give you a detailed overview of our butter range.
