Ancient spelt farmer's bread

Urdinkel Farmerbrot

I write again and again that the original spelt farmer's bread does not weigh 500 grams. It really only weighs 480 grams all the time.

I want to buy a 500 gram loaf and pay the price, but I don't get the 500 grams I agreed on. Mainly because I keep telling them this and Migros can't manage to add a bit more dough to the dough so that it has the promised weight.

There are always auras like weight loss due to water loss etc. I can't listen to any more of this.

Once again, I ask you to finally give this bread the promised weight! I think we customers can expect that. We are happy to pay, but only if the other side also complies with the conditions.

Thank you! My place of purchase is 9500 Wil SG.

I can well sympathize that it is actually unacceptable and customer disappointing. But I think that the water loss is not an excuse, but the weight is determined during the packaging process. The subsequent water loss depends on many external factors such as temperature, humidity or air pressure and cannot be reliably estimated.

Perhaps you should check the weight of various baked goods? Does it still occur with other varieties?

Since I realized this a long time ago, I weigh every loaf of bread before I buy it. And yes, it still happens a lot. So my advice to everyone is to weigh the bread and make a complaint if the weight isn't right!

Yes, indios, you are indeed complaining about it again. I can no longer resist asking you whether one or both of the following points bother you:

a) that the bread is missing 20 grams, i.e. 1/25 of the total weight stated on the Migros side

b) that you are actually paying 20 grams of bread or 1/25 too much when you compare the actual and declared quantity of bread with the price to be paid (which refers to an incorrect quantity)

And, as a further consequence: Would you stop buying this bread if nothing changed in either a) or b) or even both?

And these 20 grams - a thin slice of bread - are worth it? With freshly baked goods and natural products in general, no two bread rolls are the same, no two heads of lettuce weigh the same...

As long as we're not talking about hundreds of grams here, that should be within reasonable, acceptable limits...

Hello @indios

Thank you for reporting that there are still discrepancies in the weight of the Urdinkel Farmer bread. Your input helps us to identify sources of error at an early stage. We are in contact with the supplier so that the employees are informed about this incident and pay more attention to the quality guidelines. The original spelt farmhouse breads produced daily are also checked by the regional bakery, but no deviations were found there. During the inspection, the entire batch produced must have an average weight of 500g.

The head of quality assurance is also available by phone for a brief explanation. If you give me your coordinates, she will be happy to contact you.

Best regards and have a good start to the week
