Toast: dried out at the time of purchase

Toast: angetrocknet schon beim Kauf

I'm a big fan of toast and eat kilos of the light-colored "Toast & Sandwich" (the one in the blue packaging). Now I've noticed a few times that although the toast is freshly bought and has a shelf life of several days, the edges have already dried out. Visually you can clearly see a difference and as I also like to eat toast without toasting it, it is also noticeable when eating that it is not equally fluffy. Now I ask myself, is it just me? Is it due to incorrect storage at the store? Or what's going on? I was really tempted to return the bread :-(

Hello Schlaunzi, thank you very much for your message. I am very sorry that the toast is not always perfect and has dried edges. Personally, this happens to me when I've had a pack open for a few days, so I take a slice out of the pack every now and then and close it again. The recipe and the production process are unchanged. Without a best-before date, we cannot check the corresponding batches and documents. However, you write that this has happened several times. It is possible that the packs were exposed to unfavorable conditions during transport from the manufacturer to the store, which caused them to dry out. We are of course keeping an eye on this issue. Kind regards, Richi

I also buy these toasts regularly. As I only use them little by little and am therefore worried that they might start to go moldy over time, I keep them in the fridge after opening the pack at the latest. I have had the best experience with this: even after three weeks, the toasts are still tiptop and at most only slightly drier than at the beginning (then toast for a few seconds less).

Thanks for the answer. After opening, it is of course better to eat quickly anyway. But I've also noticed this with new packs from the store. And that's a shame!
