Deleting messages or threads was (is) not desired, because replies to posts should not point to nirvana,
Before the bug that lasted for weeks at the end of last year, messages in the forum could be edited during the first 24 hours, now without limit. The time period was used to fix typos and misspellings.
"Would agree that you can rewrite and delete posts if there are no replies to them yet."

@Frederica: Even if the same avatar is repeated, of course I have nothing to do with the first "test" post, i.e. I don't care. But I suspect that someone just wanted to try out an avatar and only realized afterwards that a delete function was missing.
