The Christmas calendar with the daily jokers arrived today. Unfortunately, it is useless for us as it lacks sustainable products. A third are meat products (we are vegetarians); there isn't a single organic product or a decent selection of fruit/vegetables or natural cosmetics. What a pity. The mainstream has struck and the Generation M promises are falling by the wayside.

@Solfrid, hello and I hadn't even noticed. We also eat a vegetarian diet and we often notice how cheap meat products are compared to vegetables, cheese, Quorn, etc. We find this development very sad because the living creature "farm animal" does not receive much respect in our society and above all because only the "exclusive" parts of the animal are eaten by us Swiss. The rest goes to Africa or is used for dogs, cats etc., or ends up as waste. Tragic.
Yes, we feel the same way about meat.
A vegetarian campaign week at Migros would be a cool thing ... It would also highlight all the alternatives available. Or Friday is always veggie day - with 10% off special veggie items, or a veggie advent calendar. Or a meat-free alternative for every meat calendar.
There are so many things you could do to raise awareness.

Every few months we are in Germany and visit a health food store. It's always interesting to see how many alternatives there are to meat. We usually clear out the racks and cook at home. There have already been many meat eaters who didn't want to believe that it was a vegetarian meal ;-)). We are happy that there are so many Quorn products. Chopped Quorn in a tomato or roast sauce is another meal where most people don't realize it's Quorn. Many thanks to Migros for the delicious Quorn products.

It's just a shame that Quorn products are made with eggs (from factory farming)!

Isn't that the same problem as with the Anna'sBest menus? Super fine Indian curry ... with chicken from Hungary? I'd rather pay more and have Swiss free-range chicken in it than something like that. Consequence: I grumble and don't buy it, OF COURSE. I think it's a shame that the price is the main argument and not the quality. Migros in particular would have the power to take on a pioneering role here, consistently across ALL lines - and not to torpedo this in its own range with M-Budget ... there are (unfortunately) enough cheap discounters for that ...

Every discounter has a fine food line or whatever they are called with such exclusive foods. Are they only food products or also groceries? The "stinginess is cool" slogan is not only "in" in Germany but also here, to the chagrin of many animals. What a pity.

Yes, I've noticed that too, a lot of meat promotions, which is a shame. Promotions are a great way to control and influence purchasing behavior, so an organic product promotion would be more appropriate, especially as far as the Generation M promise is concerned.
