And why not make unrefined organic Swiss sugar from our beet instead of buying organic sugar full of grey energy? Buying local is better for the environment.

Hi SophieNL Many farmers fear the workload and risk of loss associated with growing sugar beet. As a result, there is too little sugar in Switzerland - and not just organic sugar. The problems are particularly acute for organic sugar. Best regardsFrederica
Hello SophieNL, thank you very much for your message about organic sugar. We are generally interested in resource-friendly production methods. Sugar beet cultivation is very demanding in terms of weed control, pests at the seedling stage and foliar diseases. This can lead to very large fluctuations in harvest / production yield losses.
