Subito Scanning - what is the advantage of the new software?
Subito Scanning - wo liegt eigentlich der Vorteil der neuen Software ?

For me as a customer, it's just a step backwards in terms of self-scanning -- poorer readability -- poorer operation, especially when checking through before the payment process -- no more manual switching between single view and list view -- susceptibility to malfunctions - already had to return the scanner within a short period of time Is the QR code instead of the barcode the only achievement - I almost can't believe it....

Hello Ilgen, thank you very much for your contribution to our new checkout software. Basically, we have incorporated a lot of suggestions and ideas for improvement from customers into the new POS software. As with anything new, it sometimes takes some time to get used to the new interface. One of the biggest advantages is that you can now go to any station to pay as a subito customer. With the previous checkout software, this was not possible and you had to go to the explicit station. This was a very big customer need, which we have now realized with the new software. Of course, we take your concerns very seriously and are happy to pass them on to our development department so that improvements can be incorporated into future software versions. Kind regards, Chloe

Hi Chloe, thanks for the reply and for forwarding it to the internal department. I can only judge this as an ordinary, older user who is nevertheless willing to constantly adapt and get used to new things. However, this does not mean questioning changes (at least from my point of view) because it could well be that there are advantages from the point of view of the cash register being served. I suspect this is because the Subito payment process is also somewhat more streamlined, i.e. 1-2 fewer taps on the payment station display. However, I cannot understand your reasoning: "One of the biggest advantages is that you can now go to any station to pay as a Subito customer. With the previous checkout software this was not possible and you had to go to the explicit station. This was a very big customer requirement...." ...i.e. when I put the scanner back in the box, I was already able to select the payment station (we have 5 of them) with the old version or I was asked to check 1-2 times/month. This process hasn't changed at all, but what has changed is that I no longer have to switch from the individual view to the list view with the up/down arrow, which was very useful when checking larger purchases. I would be ashamed to death if, despite my best knowledge and conscience, I hadn't scanned something or hadn't scanned it correctly and then ended up looking like a thief at the checkout. That's why I also check it again before checking out... ;-) ... and just by the way: both the writing was easier to read and the beep was easier to hear with the old version. This is really not my imagination, because at the moment there is still a supermarket nearby with the old software (barcode on checkout slip) in operation and I can therefore compare both systems very well by alternating shopping behavior... Have a nice day.

Hello Ilgen, thank you for your feedback. With the old software, the stations (subito payment station for self-scanning or self-checkout) were completely independent and you could not, for example, pay for a subito self-scanning purchase at a self-checkout station. Now we no longer differentiate between the stations and you are free to choose where you want to pay. There used to be arrows on the subito hand scanner for scrolling back and forth. These have been removed, as you can now scroll with your finger just like on a cell phone. This means you can still check your purchase. I would be happy to pass on the other points regarding the font and beep to the development department as a suggestion for improvement. Best regards, Noemi

Hello Noemi from M-Infoline Personally, I find the two arrows more practical because, unlike tapping the next line on the screen and then scrolling with your finger on the screen, the whole handling is much more static and stable - but ok, that's the way it is now.
Nevertheless, I can now hope that in our MMM EKZ with the latest software (QR code on the checkout slip) but ONLY equipped with self-scanning, there is a ray of hope that there will also be self-checkout in the near future. Then I will only use self-checkout there and there will be no need for a second check. I also find this payment method more practical for many items and if you use it regularly, you can easily scan an item every 3 seconds, even when switching between the gun and the tray. The only disadvantage is with single items such as gherkins or croissants/weeggli, where scanning on site was more practical than selecting at the display scanning station - I mean in terms of working speed.
In addition, the beep as a registration signal can be heard more clearly there. I even suspect that this heralds the end of the Migros self-scanners and that this payment method will be made with an app on the private cell phone to then complete the payment process at the self-checkout :-D Have a nice weekend.
