I'm sure one of you knows this!
i have noticed several times that there is a new product in migros store x (representing any store). however, this product is usually only advertised as new 2-3 weeks later in the migros newspaper, here on migipedia or in the store itself. what is the reason for this? doesn't make a lot of sense to me!

A few years ago, it was often the case, especially at Coop, that a product was advertised and not yet available in the stores. Very tedious!
If you find a new product in your M store, it may not mean that it is available everywhere else. Therefore, new products are probably first distributed to the stores and sold "normally" at first, and only a few weeks later, when all cooperatives have adopted the product or the product is actually available in the stores, does the new product promotion come into play.
At least that's how I explain it.

It's exactly as Mathomas says. For logistical reasons, it takes a while (usually around 3 weeks) before a new product can be delivered to all stores. So that customers don't search for the product in vain, the new product is only advertised after approx. 3 weeks.
