Why?
I am very disappointed, I fell for the beef on the can... Yes, I really thought it was from Switzerland and Swiss meat!
That kind of thing annoys me! I only saw the Italian flag on it when I got home and got suspicious...
And apparently that's a thorn in the side of others too?

I would like to make my own Migros product. Or is there already something similar?
I value Swiss meat and good quality, preferably organic/sustainable... Swiss production too, of course.
Strangely, there are comparable products in some Edeka stores in Germany. German meat, unfortunately, but from smaller farms. You can't find it in every store!
Yes, there are still a few small ones, but they are dying out.

A little history:
Pietro Sada sold his customers a cooked beef that was prized in his Milanese restaurant business.
In the 1880s, he was looking for a preservation method and put his meat in a box and founded a small meat canning factory in 1881.
The Italians did not like the jellied meat, but the turning point came when he offered the Swiss hot-air balloon pilot Gondrand tinned meat with the label "Firma Pietro Sada" as part of his diet when he crossed the Alps. From then on, everyone wanted to be part of the symbol of progress.
In 1923, Gino Alfonso Sada, Pietro's son, founded the Simmenthal company and began producing jellied meat in Monza. The name probably comes from the Simmental breed of cattle, whose brand is reminiscent of the typical colors of its coat. In the past, meat from Asmara (Eritrea) was used, but today Brazilian or Argentinian meat is used.
In 2012, Simmenthalwas taken over by Bolton Alimentari S.P.A. Milano, part of the Bolton Group. Until then, it had belonged to the US giant Kraft Foods (formerly General Foods) for 30 years. Today, Simmenthal Meat is the market leader and present in many households, not only in Italy.

Exactly, the orthograVieh brings it to the day: Simmental is definitely not the same as Simmenthal.
AndSimmertal, for example, issomething else again...

Hello @Traberli, I'm sorry that you feel you've been misled. Simmenthal is produced by a third-party supplier, i.e. not by Migros. Unfortunately, we therefore have no influence on the product or the packaging.
Perhaps you would prefer SwissCorned Beef from Malbuner? This is made from Swiss meat.

There is no Simmenthaler in Germany either, this brand is a CH fake export, but the Simmenthaler cow is a Bernese breeding cow that is not exported, but has excellent meat and produces good milk.

Yes, the good old "carne Simmenthal" (with H), which has nothing to do with the Simmental (without H). I ate it in Italy in the 1960s, when I hardly knew what a cow was. The can has remained practically unchanged since then.
