Self-checkout: receipt only at the "push of a button"
Self-Checkout: Kassenzettel nur auf "Knopfdruck"

Every time you pay at the self-checkout, a receipt is automatically printed. It feels like 99.9% of them end up directly in the waste garbage can - an unnecessary waste of paper, isn't it?
Couldn't the receipts at self-checkout only be printed at the "push of a button", i.e. at the customer's express request? On the one hand, this would eliminate the unnecessary waste of paper and, on the other hand, the customer would not have to wait for the paper to be printed and then throw it away immediately.
Those who pay at the self-checkout will hardly have a problem with the service and if they do, there is always an employee nearby for support anyway.
Or is there a good reason why this should always be printed?
