Migros is celebrating its 100th anniversary and at the same time is laying off numerous employees by closing restaurants and garden centers, among other things. As a socially committed cooperative, how do you explain this to your members and their redundant employees? As a long-standing member of the cooperative and a Migros customer, I have no sympathy for this. The restaurants made it possible for many older people to maintain their social contacts there with the humane prices. This is now no longer the case for many of those affected, which will lead to social isolation. Would such profit-oriented behavior be in the spirit of Duttweiler? It cannot be that failed expansion abroad is now being compensated for by such redimensioning in Switzerland! For me, Migros has always been a very sympathetic company, with a great deal of grateful support through the cultural percentage for cultural and sporting events. After the machinations practiced in the past and present, my feelings have changed abruptly. I am disappointed and will show this in my future purchasing behavior. Yours sincerely. Ruth Raaflaub
