I find it admirable how everyone complains about plastic, but posts it on their MacBooks or iPhones, which are mainly made from things that are also harmful to the environment.
In addition, the question of food waste versus plastic should always be asked. Not everything in plastic is bad per se. Some foods just last longer with plastic and don't have to be thrown away within a day.

At Migros, several experts are working every day to optimize our packaging and test alternative materials. Plastic is replaced where it makes sense. As Switzerland's largest retailer, we take our responsibility seriously and lend a hand. Since 2011, almost 10,000 tons of packaging have been optimized. In a current pledge, this figure is set to rise to 6000 tons by 2020.
From a purely ecological point of view, it does not usually make sense to do without packaging altogether, as it provides the best possible protection for products during transportation and against spoilage. It is therefore not, as is often assumed, pointless "waste", but performs important functions.
However, the tasks of good packaging are much more varied. It should:
-protect the product (longer shelf life and hygiene)
- convey information (origin, ingredients, price, best-before date, etc. - at Migros, this should be in three languages where possible)
- be easy to transport and stack (so that we need as few trucks as possible for transportation)
- be as environmentally friendly and recyclable as possible

I don't have an Iphoe or a MacBook, but unfortunately I can't type on air and send messages into the ether either. Apple products - which I'm not a fan of - can at least be credited with the fact that they generally last longer than competing products and thus avoid some waste.
Back to the topic: I think it is more than questionable whether vegetables generally last longer in plastic: I unpack the cucumbers in 'Parisians' (if there are no others) first and only then put them in the fridge. They usually keep for a week that way. In plastic, they usually start to drool after just a few days. Ditto for various other vegetables and fruit: unpack them and, depending on the variety, put them in the 0-degree zone, normal fridge or on the kitchen counter - most of them without plastic. Incidentally, not only most tropical and exotic fruits belong on the counter, but also tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkins, apples,...
