Say it like a Valaisan

Sägs wiä än Walliser

Guest

Dear Migipedia

I'm looking forward to following your competition "Sägs wiä an Wallisser". It's nice to see such a typical dialect in the spotlight.
I know my way around Valais well and a large part of my family is at home in French-speaking Switzerland.

I also know the Valais well and have visited the Aproz bottling plant many times in my life.

What bothers me about the competition is the fact that the village of Aproz and the Aproz bottling plant are located in French-speaking Switzerland, or Valais, which means that French is spoken at the plant. The language border is about 40 km further east in Sierre. So the dialog as shown in the commercial is very unrealistic and for our Romands in Switzerland it is disturbing.

I am happy to discuss this further in a personal meeting and would like to emphasize again that Switzerland is not exclusively German-speaking. The nation of Switzerland has become so successful in the mutual respect of linguistic minorities. Unfortunately, this is often overlooked in the electronic media. This should also be included in your marketing activities.

Thank you very much

Kind regards

Erik Schaffner-Joly
