For my taste, the Rösti made in Switzerland with rapeseed oil gives off a disgusting smell when you open the packaging. And the "sausage" that is squeezed out of the bag is not very appetizing.

In the USA - not necessarily my role model - a different recipe has been invented that I find appealing. I wonder if it would be worth testing.DSC07150.JPGDSC07151.JPG

What is the difference between the recipes?

I can't say anything about Swiss hash browns because I haven't bought them for years. The recipe for American hash browns can be seen on the back of the packaging. The grated potato pieces are dry, already salted with reason and only need butter.
