Meat in Switzerland is overpriced by a factor of 2-3 compared to other EU countries - even the Coop product is more than twice as expensive as that from the UK. Whether the meat comes from Switzerland or another EU country is irrelevant (incidentally, this also applies to the quality - EU meat is not necessarily inferior) ...
This week, for example, beef entrecote was on sale at my local Migros at 50% off, but it's still a bit more expensive than if I bought it at the butcher's market 5 km away in France (not to mention the supermarket).
For almost all other products, vegetables, cheese, etc., the differences are much smaller.
I'm not just talking about the price difference, but about the ecological and ethical nonsense.
With Generation M, Migros promises meat from good animal husbandry and in accordance with Swiss animal welfare standards. With a new (!) product in its range that hardly meets these standards, this is hypocrisy.

In the case of a processed product that is produced in Ireland with meat from unspecified EU countries, there is a strong suspicion that this is cheap factory farming.
Hello DonPascual, thank you for your contribution. I haven't found the pulled pork BBQ product in our range, and the specialist department doesn't know it either. It may be a regional product. Hello everyone, thank you for your feedback. I have just received an answer from the cooperative. There is no equivalent quality product available in Switzerland. We therefore looked around on the international market - pulled pork was convincing at the tasting. A one-to-one price comparison is almost impossible for agricultural products. This is because customs duties apply in Switzerland. Therefore, we cannot offer this product at the same price as the EU countries. Kind regards, Luisa
Hello Luisa, I must honestly say that I am very disappointed by this answer.
The example of Coop (Bell) shows that it is possible to produce such a product in Switzerland.
I am aware that a 1:1 price comparison is not possible. But this is not my main concern.
An answer on the compatibility of this product and the Generation M promise is still pending.

Genossenschft Ostschweiz has just sent me this reply for you:
The pulled pork was introduced as a test product at Migros Ostschweiz in January to sound out whether there is demand for such BBQ products. If this is the case, we will strive for a regional solution. Migros Ostschweiz procures 95% of its meat from Switzerland. The proportion of CoR meat and organic beef from pasture farming, produced by Bio-Suisse farmers, is very high. Migros has done pioneering work in recent years with its Generation M animal welfare promise. Even though much has already been achieved, we have not yet reached our goal - but we are well on the way there. You can find more information at https://generation-m.migros.ch.
