It's great that Migros has been accepting plastic bottles for recycling for some time now. A big annoyance in some branches (e.g. Aarau) is that the hole for throwing them in is much (and I really mean much) too small for the sometimes large bottles. Detergent packaging, for example, will never fit in there, even if you squeeze it to the smallest size. There is a need for action here.

So apparently this really is a problem elsewhere too. As we don't have a recycling center here that accepts plastic bottles, the bottles end up in my bin again. As I don't feel like navigating these bottles into the oversized holes. What a pity.

Putting them in the bin and paying fees for them is not necessary. At Generation M, Migros claims to accept and recycle all plastic bottles. So you can hand yours in to customer service if they don't fit in the hole. In any case, there should be an opening that fits all bottles, regardless of shape.

Migros apparently prefers not to take back detergent and fabric softener bottles, as the large ones only fit through the hole by force. But when they say "all plastic bottles", they mean all of them.
Incidentally, not all of them are recycled, unless you understand recycling to mean incineration.

it is actually very difficult to implement the national recycling concepts ideally in Aarau due to the space available. You can currently only hand in detergent containers at the customer service desk. Or alternatively at the Subito checkouts directly to the staff there. Unfortunately, there is currently no other option. The topic has already been discussed in Aarau, but no ideal solution has yet been found. The store manager has assured me that this will be taken into account when any adjustments are made to the store.
