Plastic gadgets

Plastik Gadgets

To be honest, I was less than thrilled when I discovered the screens in Migros advertising what I thought were unnecessary plastic gadgets. For example, covers for yoghurts that can be reused (made of plastic) or a gadget that can be used to squeeze out toothpaste tubes completely (also made of plastic). In the commercials, as is so common in marketing, an attempt was made to create a problem or need among customers by showing how much stress they would have without the gadget, or that they would not be able to use up everything they had bought and that they had paid for it, in the case of the "toothpaste gadget".
Firstly, you can use a small coffee saucer as a lid for the yoghurt (I always do this too and everyone usually already has one at home) and the toothpaste or mayo can be pulled over an edge or you can cut it open at the end to get the rest of the product out. Secondly, such gadgets are likely to disappear into a drawer somewhere or be thrown away. (Thirdly, such gadgets cause problems for customers that they didn't have before (I know marketing), but I think it's the company's responsibility to check how necessary a product really is or whether it just creates more plastic waste. I think it's a shame that Migros needs to sell such ill-considered products in its stores.

The reusable yogurt lid was made to replace the disposable lids that came with EVERY larger cup. So with every purchase, a waste lid. Isn't it good that the reusable ones are over and you have one for waste every few years? In contrast to the hundreds, one lid doesn't add to the mountain of waste, and not everyone has coffee saucers to balance on. It's a bit of a relic from the past. I think it's good that retailers are doing away with all these unnecessary disposable lids, don't you? :)

I collected a handful of these "disposable lids" (about two years ago) and still use them today. Incidentally, you can also pour over the rest of a cream or fruit from a tin can and store it in them. Yes, marketing is primarily there to make people believe that they need something that they wouldn't have thought of themselves. At a time when more and more brain functions are being delegated to electronics, this is particularly easy...
