I once made peppermint chocolate chip cookies myself and used peppermint oil from the drugstore (you can certainly also get it in the health food store). I could imagine that this would also work for baking recipes and might even be better than peppermint flavoring (personally, for example, I don't think the lemon flavoring from the bottle tastes nearly as good as real lemon peel, but taste is debatable;-) ).

Thank you very much for the answer! I also asked at the drugstore and they only had the oils for the fragrance lamps that say "hazardous to health"... :/ But I'll try the health food store!
