Dear Migros
Does Migros have values, a line that it pursues in terms of green/eco? Or is the cooperative line mainly capitalistic, what is asked for is offered.
I encounter many contradictions at Migros, on the one hand, for example, the new costs for the small plastic bags and the reusable large plastic bags to save plastic, on the other hand, you get some plastic mania figurines packed in plastic bags for every purchase.
For a while, all the many promises that Migros makes to the next generation were written on the large plastic bags. Not a few concerning environmental protection and co2.
The whole from-the-region-for-the-region label story doesn't seem very credible to me either. I appreciate the products and want to support local businesses, but here too, next to the adrfdr product is a similar imported product in action. Etc.
My question: how important is environmental protection and CO2 reduction to Migros? Does it take a side or does it simply give everyone (consumers) the choice between super eco to super globalized-mulit-packaged products?
Idea: cloth bags are becoming more and more popular, especially in Germany. They are pretty, petroleum-free and can be used an infinite number of times. Design: please keep it simple so that I can walk around with it.

Migros has been committed to greater sustainability for many years and aims to be ecologically, socially and economically sustainable. And it is doing this very successfully. The independent rating agency Oekom has named Migros the most sustainable retailer in the world: www.migros.ch/oekom. Of course, there are always conflicts of interest between two or even three of these positions. Migros wants to make its customers as attractive an offer as possible. It declares its products transparently so that everyone can decide for themselves what they want to buy and what not. The renowned German rating agency Oekom crowned both Migros and Coop the most sustainable retailer in the world. Unfortunately, both companies also make a lot of dirt!

Have you ever heard of the Responsible Business Initiative? The idea is that Swiss companies should clearly disclose their supply chain so that they can no longer act unethically. Migros, among others, is clearly against this. Why do you think that is?

Thank you for your message. I have asked us internally about the Responsible Business Initiative and would like to pass on the following statement to you:
"Migros understands the concerns of the initiators. For us, international human rights and environmental protection are minimum requirements, and non-compliance with them is unacceptable. This is precisely why we are strongly committed to sustainability in our value chains and rely on international standards such as the social standard of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). However, we consider the package of demands presented by the initiators to be critical in terms of feasibility and implementation. In particular, the provisions in the initiative text relating to due diligence are very narrowly defined. In our view, these are not compatible with international law, which places a very high value on the sovereignty of individual states. Migros has therefore campaigned for a counter-proposal.
