Well, I think Migros Aare is jumping on a bandwagon that has been rolling for some time and where other providers are also following suit:
- the Internet of Things, where, for example, the fridge orders the milk itself
- Amazon dash buttons
You don't have to go along with everything just because it's on offer...

I was wondering what this article was all about - especially because of the Aare pilot... we already have this throughout Switzerland today : Home/My Migros/Plan your shopping... It's just that I personally can't (and sometimes don't want to) evaluate these results in this way
-- My last purchased products = incomplete ... Bread is never on there, for example
-- Frequently bought products = distorting due to seasonal products ... don't buy Uva Italia now
-- My favorites = I use this for a different purpose by listing rarely used, hard-to-find products (e.g. body care) and it is practical to show the picture to the staff there, before you search for a long time and the item is gone again.
-- My shopping lists: confusing for me, because if I enter "cake" to find a real cake, I first have to search through the entire "Cucina+Tavola" range. Moreover, the shopping list would only really make sense if it could be transferred to the Subito scanner, where it would need an exact selection for categorization
So despite reading the article twice, I don't know exactly what the pilot wants with 200 selected customers in Migros Aare for all "Migros children"...?... except a certain amount of attention. It's about the so-called "^Migros children", because walk-in customers can't be categorized by anyone.
There's no need to talk about data analysis, monitoring shopping behavior, customer loyalty, otherwise we'd have to go back to 50 years ago... I don't want to go down that road either.

MyMigros apparently filters the most frequently purchased products and measures how often each customer buys them. It displays them to them as soon as these products (unanimously) run out.
For example, if you buy toilet paper pretty much every three months, MyMigros will automatically add toilet paper to your shopping list about three months after your last purchase.
At least that's how I understand it from the newspaper article.

@AlMiDeCoLi The example you mentioned with the toilet paper is understandable as long as this regularity exists, i.e. as long as I keep to it. But if I suddenly buy 2-3 packs because I'm on promotion or have a car available, Migros might notice.... but if I buy the promotion from the competition, then I get annoying reminders that can get on my nerves if I keep repeating them, which is not necessarily conducive to buying again.
I'm thinking of my printer with, unfortunately, online registration - supposedly because of the warranty. Annoying requests to buy toner at regular intervals, even though I have been using much cheaper replacement cartridges for a long time and they work perfectly. The warranty problem would have been a thing of the past anyway.
For me, the problem would be the pointless automatism and not a phobia of monitoring.

You've got that right. The point of such an automatic shopping list is that you fall for it: your shopping list says toilet paper, so you run after this product in the store because you are concentrating on the current purchase and forget that you bought this exact product three days ago from the other supplier.
So if I can get involved here, I'll ask whether such things aren't superfluous for products that you buy again and again anyway.
It takes a while to put together a shopping list online on your cell phone (take cakes as an example). Many people have been shopping in the same Migros for so long, they probably even know where the products are by heart. Walk through Die Migros in your head and write it down. At least try it before you demonize me again. Then you can see what works faster. Just try it 1 or 2 times.
Showing the picture of something to find it when you ask is practical, I admit. Honestly, I've done it that way too. Because my mother and I share the card. Then it's useful to see a product she has bought when I go shopping for her.

A generational change is taking place at Migros: from pragmatists to visionaries .... or supposed visionaries - visionaries in competition.
It only works if the people on the ground go along with it.
