The MI 03 vacuum cleaner bag was recently replaced by another product. Unfortunately, there are problems with my VAC7801 (PNC 910287271). The lid can (almost) no longer be closed. This seems to be due to a protective mechanism that prevents the lid from closing if no bag has been inserted.
The two "ears" of the old model allowed the lid to close. These are missing on the new model.

This is called planned obsolescence, a tactic that Migros likes to deny, but of course uses and supports. They change the bags every now and then so that people have to buy new vacuum cleaners. :-)
Years ago, I encountered the same problem when using reusable vacuum cleaner bags. I simply made a mold out of plastic that corresponded to the original box and into which the new bag could be inserted at the back. If you want to use disposable bags, then it is advisable to attach metal clips to the back for the corners, a piece of picture rail would also work, so that the change can be done quickly and easily.

Years ago, the shape of the Delizio capsules was changed. At that time, you could exchange the old dispenser, which had become unusable, for a new one at customer service.
If this is also the case here and Migros has deliberately changed the vacuum cleaner bags and you can no longer use your vacuum cleaner, I would do the same and demand a replacement. Kassensturz would certainly also be interested in the issue. But the presumption of innocence still applies.

I would call it "poorly planned obsolescence" at best. The vacuum cleaner was bought in 2007 and is still running perfectly :)
In my opinion, the problem lies here: Redesign due to change of supplier, where the "ears" were forgotten.
Therefore no lawyer, no checkout and no new replacement appliance. The problem can be solved forever in 2 minutes with a minimum of manual skill. Ears or not.

In principle, the new vacuum cleaner bag models were tested before they were launched. However, the people responsible for the range have told me that in a few cases, the new model may still not fit. They recommend the Electrolux s-bag as an alternative.
