The Quorn Schnitzel Naur is now available with 4 pieces in the pack and less packaging waste. I think that's great, but I don't think it's great that it's now made with sugar in the ingredients.

Quorn contains mimim sugar, because the mold feeds on glucose (~0.5g/100g).

Hello everyone, I'll pass on the supplier's explanation here: The main ingredient in all Quorn products is mycoprotein - a complete protein obtained through fermentation by the fungus Fusarium Venenatum (i.e. it contains a sufficient proportion of the 9 essential amino acids required for a balanced diet). The fermentation process completely converts glucose syrup into mycoprotein. No residual sugar remains in the mycoprotein dough during the process and analyses of the mycoprotein show less than 0.1 g / 100 g sugar content of the total product.
With the new packaging, we have not changed the recipe - sugar is added to the natural spice mix as a carrier for better distribution of the spices in the overall product. However, with a proportion of 0.025 g / 100 g of the total product, sugar is at the bottom of the list of ingredients - for comparison: a standard sugar cube in Switzerland weighs 4.4 g.

With the change to the packaging design, we have implemented the breakdown of the individual ingredients in accordance with the new Swiss food law, e.g. the breakdown of the ingredient "spice mix" into the individual components. There were no changes to the schnitzels themselves.
This means that all new packs have more detailed content information - in line with the new Swiss food law.
