But wouldn't it be even MORE IMPORTANT to make the packaging more environmentally friendly and, above all, to make it possible for Migros to take back the plastic waste for proper disposal. Absolutely, the meat packaging is usually much too big at the top, smaller packs would certainly help us, save resources and you could save space on the shelf, which is certainly also interesting for Migros.

Thank you for your message. We are constantly working on optimizing our packaging - on the one hand by reducing packaging or using less material.
At Migros, it is already permitted to remove the packaging from products immediately after shopping on site and then place it in the bins immediately after the checkout. Some packaging materials are sent to the composting plant. The boxes are clearly labeled, one box with "plastic" and the other with "cardboard & paper".
However, any packaging taken home that is not part of the separately collected recyclables must be disposed of in your own household waste. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to dispose of all of our customers' waste. For purely organizational reasons - waste collection, etc. - such an undertaking is absolutely unfeasible.

I recently spoke to the butcher at a Migros branch. According to him, the packaged meat and the meat itself are the same. Theoretically, you could leave out the packaging completely and thus promote sales at the butcher. (the prices are exactly the same) This would save on packaging for this product. :)
I also realize that this can't work for the entire meat range, but all beginnings are difficult :)

"Although you can get all your meat pre-packed at Carrefour in Dijon, it has a counter about 40 meters long with x number of employees. During the week you might have to wait 10 minutes, at weekends and on public holidays a friend delegates a family member to the meat department and does the other shopping. So they are in the checkout area at about the same time."

Sure, the waiting time is longer. But that's exactly the example I experienced in France. We took a ticket and instead of waiting, we continued shopping. This meant that no large crowds would pile up and the waiting time would be put to good use :)
It's always easy to suggest something from the outside, I totally understand your side :)

What do you mean, the same meat? As far as I know, the packaged meat is gassed or vacuum-packed. Therefore probably not of the same quality. If at all possible, I prefer to eat less meat, but from the butcher in the village, where I know where it comes from.
@luckymamBythe same meat I mean it is the same product. One is offered fresh and the other vacuum packed as you said. It's clear that it's not the same quality.
I completely agree with you about the Metztger. Unfortunately, I have to make a detour to the butcher, which is not always enough for me due to time constraints. :(
