"New in your Migros" - but for how long?
«Neu in Ihrer Migros» – aber für wie lange?

After-party soup or carrot cake chocolate: Migros launches new products on the market at a rapid pace. Under the title "New in your Migros", the retailer presents nine new products every other week or so - often products that the world has not been waiting for. Want some examples? The nut mix with basil and lemon seasoning, for example. Or the raspberry petits beurre. Or the salt cookies in polar bear, seal and penguin shapes. No wonder some products quickly disappear from the shelves. For example, the cardboard cake boxes: they may be very practical for confectioners. Consumers hardly need them. The cake boxes didn't last five weeks in Migros stores. Or the lemon cake yoghurt: the developers themselves probably didn't believe it would be a success. That's why Migros only brought it into the stores as a limited "Special Edition". The yoghurt quickly disappeared again. Migros magazine presents around 200 new products every year. Migros cannot say how many of these survive. It does not want to say how much their development costs. K-Tipp researched how much it sells in two cases.Anti-hangover soup: In February, Migros launched "After Party Soup" - a pasta and vegetable soup enriched with magnesium and iron. It is supposed to help against hangovers. It is never available in most Migros stores. And where it is available? In the Burgfelder branch in Basel, not a single one was sold during the week in which K-Tipp tracked sales. In the Glattzentrum in Zurich there were just four and in the Zähringer-Zentrum in Bern there were five. However, one of the five packs was bought by K-Tipp. Nevertheless, Migros says: "Sales of the soup have met our expectations."Rüeblitorten chocolate: Migros writes about the chocolate with Rüeblitorten filling: "It performs above average." However, K-Tipp's research shows that sales are struggling. And the comments on the Migros website are not very flattering. "Pure sugar!!!", writes one customer. Another: "I can't taste any carrot cake. It's more like eating raw dough." Nevertheless, another customer is "thrilled". And he pleads: "Please, please don't take it out of the range." In view of the sluggish sales, his concern is probably justified. Source: K-Tipp 09/2020 06.05.2020 Marco Diener
