Hi MerlijnCH, the Mönchsbart is not available in every Migros cooperative. Can you let me know which branch / region you usually shop in? Then I'll find out for you. Thank you and best regards, Brigitte

Hello MerlijnCH, I have just received a reply. Genossenschaft-Aare no longer offers this product - unfortunately because demand was too low. I'm sorry that I don't have any positive feedback for you. Kind regards, Luisa

I can imagine that people didn't even know what to do with monk's beard. I give it another 2 or 3 years and it will be like green asparagus or rocket.
I confess, I've never had monk's beard either and out of curiosity read up on what it is. I ordered seeds straight away and definitely want to try it, thanks for introducing me to it, even if Migros no longer has it. ↵↵Maybe at some point there will be a hype about it like with kale, nobody wanted to eat it for decades and suddenly everyone is crazy about it😅
I think growing it is either uncomplicated (as it is actually a "weed") or complicated because it likes sandy soils and hot climates. With climate change, this is no longer a problem:-) A little tip. Migi's competitors in larger stores sell monk's beard Italian original "Barba di frate" or "Agretti". Incidentally, they were the first to introduce this about 4 years ago. I always call them and reserve 2 boxes. You have to use it fresh before it rots. If you're interested, I'd be happy to share my very simple "Barba di Frate" pasta recipe or the monk's beard/asparagus cake. Soooo delicious. Too bad the season doesn't last long.

I bought it for the first time years ago, also in a small specialty store. For recipes in general: the internet knows a lot, so I always wonder why people don't know what to do with it, it's sooo much easier today than in the pre-internet era :-) I've never seen it in Migros either, I'd buy it too ;-)
