We were in Lugano on Tuesday to visit the city because I'm moving there. We happened to see an MMM. Curious to see what there is to buy in the Ticino region, we went there. Right at the entrance to the building there is a flower department with lots of choice, a coffee bar and a patisserie department where we did a lot of shopping. You have to take the escalator down one floor to get to the groceries. Downstairs we saw the ancient shopping carts, the shelves were incorrectly stocked (fresh food at the front, old food pushed to the back) and the coolers were very old. We saw packaged fish that was already discolored, although it was supposed to be edible until 21.10.2013 according to the date. The pack was also barely chilled. The same with the meat. Meat, fish and cheese were also served. But it looked just as unappetizing, dry and old. I grew up with Migros, but I won't be buying fresh food at this Migros! I don't know what the other Migros branches in Lugano or Ticino in general look like, but if they are just as old, then I will definitely buy chilled food elsewhere! My mother even said that it looks like the branch in Kloten in the 70s. The atmosphere is also poor. It's not bright, friendly or freshly decorated and painted. The restaurant on the 5th floor... Empty and small food stalls. Could have done with a renovation. I wonder why the Migros in other regions are being spruced up and renovated like this, and an MMM in Ticino is being left lying around like this. Or is something being planned here? I hope so!
