Although she is modeled on the tawny owl, which is native to Switzerland, we have changed her anatomy slightly for the story. She is slightly smaller and chubbier than in the wild and has several facial expressions. Mimi's parents, on the other hand, are real owls, which are native to Lithuania. These specimens were trained for film purposes and have already grown up in captivity.
