Migros TakeAway - Sandwiches made to order
Migros TakeAway - Sandwich nach Kundenwunsch
I was in Ireland a year ago in the summer. In every supermarket there, you could put together your own sandwich. I could choose the bread, the meat, the cheese, the sauce and other ingredients such as salad, onions and so on.
At the moment at Migros, the sandwiches are all already made and you have to choose from them. Some people might not like the bread (why light? or why with seeds? why without seeds?, etc.), others might not like the sauce, others might prefer it without an ingredient (e.g. throw away the pickles in the sandwich), others might be missing an ingredient (tomatoes would still be good now)
Now my question: Have you ever thought about doing this at Migros, instead of preparing pre-prepared sandwiches fresh according to the customer's wishes? If so, why did you decide against it? If not, perhaps this would also be a way to reduce food waste (no sandwiches left over in the evening) and you don't have to have all the ingredients already prepared, but can produce more on an ongoing basis (e.g. chop onions, cut tomatoes, get/bring meat from the butcher's store). If there is something against it: What are your reasons? Why does it work in Ireland but not in Switzerland? Do you need more staff? If so, would it be a solution to use the sales staff from the checkout, which is increasingly being replaced by self-scanning?
The choice of ingredients could also be adapted to the season. The price for the sandwich would be bread and main ingredient (meat, cheese, etc) (can have different prices) incl. some other ingredients and 1 sauce + some extra charge for other ingredients.
I look forward to your thoughts.
