In future, Migros will declare products that originate from the territories occupied by Israel. This declaration is expected to be introduced in 2013. Migros carries some products from Israel in its range. Some of these items come from Palestinian territories that are occupied by Israel. Dates, for example, may originate from Palestinian areas. According to the UN and the Federal Council, the settlements in question, which are located in the West Bank for example, are illegal under international law. Until now, customers have been unable to determine whether an Israeli product originates from these areas. In future, the items in question will be labeled with a precise designation of origin such as "West Bank, Israeli settlement area". Migros wants to ensure transparency; the decision for or against the products lies with the customers.
