Miggy, the digital thrifty

Miggy, das digitale Sparsäuli

Dear Migipedia team

I would like to give Migros an idea as a gift. Just like that, without NDA, contracts and payments.

The idea would turn Miggy into the first digital savings card!

It would be the opposite of a payment card: a savings card. Digital, of course, integrated into the Migros app, ideally linked to Cumulus so that it can be used quickly and conveniently.

At any Migros checkout (served or Subito), the invoice amount could be rounded up to the nearest ten. Tip for Miggy, the digital piggy bank!

For example, if your purchase totals CHF 37.55, you can round up and CHF 2.45 will end up in the digital Miggy. This means you pay CHF 40, which is particularly practical when paying in cash because you don't have to count coins and your wallet doesn't get bulky. Of course, you can also round up when paying by card to achieve the same effect as with the classic savings wallet. Small amounts don't hurt, but feed Miggy until he gets as fat as in the legendary Miggy cat commercial. Mnjeee!

I think the technical implementation would be quite simple, based on the payment cards that have already been introduced. It would just be a matter of programming a round-up button at the checkout/payment station. If Miggy is connected to Cumulus, there would be no need to have a separate card scanned. Feeding Miggy would be quicker than counting coins.

I came up with the idea because my piggy bank is empty since I only ever pay cashless. And even those who still pay with cash rarely like to carry a lot of coins around.

For Migros, the implementation would have many advantages. Not only would fewer coins have to be counted at the checkout. Miggy would be the first digital piggy bank and something that its competitors don't have. Even if they copy the idea, only our Miggy is really likeable!

And when you have collected enough savings coins at Miggy, you can use them to fulfill a wish at a Migros supermarket or specialist store.
