The life and death of laying hens and other animals and the journey in between

Leben und Sterben der Legehennen und anderer Tiere und der Weg dazwischen

Hello
In Migrosmagazin, the beautiful lives of animals (cows, pigs, rabbits, chickens, etc.) are mentioned again and again. After the terrible report in Saldo, I realize that this information is not enough for me. What about the deaths? How and for how long are the animals led from their beautiful part of life to die? Why are the animals allowed to be crammed together for hours (remember the report on horses from the USA/Canada, where Migros finally withdrew) and dragged to the slaughterhouse? Apparently, the "good" life comes to an abrupt end as soon as, for example, the laying hens are no longer productive as desired and any animal welfare is forgotten.
I am very much in favour of abolishing centralized slaughterhouses. Why put the animals through this horrible experience of being stuffed together, traveling on the highway and, for example, being hung upside down (for mechanical killing) after their green life? Is the animal declared dead as soon as it leaves the meadow?

The experience at Migros Worb, where I enquired about this very journey of the laying hens with regard to the eggs sold openly, was also nice. The person in charge explained to me that I should be more concerned about the Indians who have to process the leather for my shoes. I couldn't really care how these chickens were doing. Does this information represent the opinion of Migros? Very embarrassing. But a clever approach: simply pointing out another grievance in this world.

I preferred the butcher who gave me open information and doesn't know the final fate of the slaughtered animals.

What is your opinion on the subject? What is Migros' opinion?

Greetings, bluekoala
