According to the new Migros magazine, there is more pasture milk. The picture accompanying the article shows two cows, both of which are intact and have not been mutilated by humans. Does this mean that pasture milk always comes from cows with horns? Or, as is so often the case, are cows with horns only used for advertising purposes?

In order to minimize the risk of injury, the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention in Agriculture (BUL) and the farmers' association recommend hornless cattle. The Bio Suisse Bud Guidelines, which also apply to Migros' organic producers, prohibit the dehorning of cows in principle. For safety reasons, however, Bio Suisse approves dehorning under certain conditions. In advertising illustrations, picture books and other design scenes, cows are always depicted with horns because this is simply more aesthetically pleasing. Kind regards, Angela

Thanks Angela To put it bluntly, I think it sucks that these animals have a part of their body amputated on the grounds of "risk of injury" (I can't hear it anymore!). Shouldn't every car logically have its wheels removed? They drive others to death! But some are allowed to keep their horns for the sake of aesthetics. That's just wrong. Greetings, bluekoala

Simply a larger barn area, pasture. More pasture. But then the answer is always: there have to be so many of them, it's determined by animal welfare which area is sufficient. And of course that's how it's done. But dear customers, go and have a look, there are cramped stables where you can feel the animals are under a lot of stress. And there are others where it's less cramped and they can even get out where there's not so much tension. It all comes down to money... Many animals = more money.
If we were to put people in such "bio-superultra species-appropriate" spaces, we would have to amputate all their hands and sew their mouths shut so that they don't "hurt" each other .... There's still not enough space. And yes, they also reorganize their hierarchy, they need their horns for that. But in these animal industries, there's no room for that anyway. It's never about the needs of the animals anyway, just about profit, which always hurts me a lot. And to continue to spread the "beautiful Heidi image" as "advertising" on milk commercials is simply a lie.
What I find even worse than the horns, however, is the permanent forced insemination of cows and the fact that their calves are immediately torn away and killed so that all the (baby) milk can be tapped >>> profit profit profit profit Let alone what is done with cows in the meat and leather industries... But that's just a side note, I've long since lost my appetite for these animal products...
