Kornflakes

That's a real shame!

Until a while ago, M-Budget Cornflakes were available in natural and sugar-coated varieties: both were very good and, in my opinion, a good product variation. A great price-performance ratio! But the joy of the product did not last long. It was taken out of the range. Instead, the flakes with chocolate rolls were relaunched. Not a bad thing, the new ones. But why did the others have to go? Did they sell so poorly? Conversations with other Migros sales staff, among others, usually revealed that they didn't sell so badly and were popular. Perhaps they will be reintroduced one day.

Hello Emptor

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, there is not an infinite amount of space on the Migros shelves. In order to be able to introduce new and innovative products, we sometimes have to discontinue products. We are of course sorry that one of your favorite products has been affected. In most cases, products that are less popular with customers are replaced. However, I have passed on your request to those responsible. Unfortunately, I can't promise you whether it will help in this case. :)

Hello!

Thank you for your answer. That makes perfect sense to me. It's also an understandable approach. Nevertheless, I have to say that in the stores where I usually shop, the M-Budget Cornflakes nature or the new M-Budget Flakes with chocolate rolls, as well as other products, are displayed in two, three or even four rows. Space is not necessarily a compelling argument here. This is more likely to be the case in smaller stores, although they never offer the entire range anyway.
It is also clear that your own preferences and those of your surroundings do not always correspond to the larger masses. However, I must add two more facts here. Firstly, I have noticed that sugared cornflakes of various kinds usually end up in the shopping cart more often than natural ones. This is a general trend, especially among "younger" customers. How healthy etc. is another topic. (Measurements and other factors are important here) So I can hardly imagine that the demand would not be high enough. Especially when you see how big the price difference is between the budget and comparable products. And that's where the second point comes into play. In my view, the product was not optimally presented. It was introduced relatively unspectacularly once and always placed right next to the unsweetened ones. I found this product placement very unfortunate. The packs were almost identical. The only difference was the blue lettering under the "Cornflakes". If you look at how these bags collapse on the shelves (usually too low on the shelf anyway), this variation was not visible at first or second glance. A few times, people who had been commissioned to do so brought me the nature flakes because the difference was not obvious enough. Placing them a little further apart and in the region of more similar products or slightly different packaging might have attracted more attention. Which would have boosted demand accordingly. After all, not all customers take the trouble to regularly search every nook and cranny for new products. And certainly not to pluck the individual packs apart. Perhaps also a very general suggestion.

Hi Emptor

Thank you for your detailed and interesting feedback! We try to design our stores as clearly as possible. The products should also be clearly recognizable from the packaging. Of course, we can still improve, also thanks to your feedback.

Best regards

In the meantime, I usually have the feeling that successful M-Budget products are increasingly disappearing from the shelves and then suddenly reappearing in a more expensive line (e.g. classic)...
Or then they are changed in such a way that they are no longer what they used to be...

Yes, I increasingly have this feeling too. There were other products that were initially available in cheaper versions, and then they were only available as M-Classic, for example. It's not necessarily the best solution.
And just a few days ago I was back in one of my favorite stores when I almost lost my temper. They give reasons such as a lack of space in the stores and what do I see: the M-Budget back ham is in the chiller cabinet in 6!!!! rows (each row has at least 15 packs). And ONLY the M-Budget ham shoulder. The other M-Budget ham variations are also stored separately in several rows! And that's not just the case with ham! But you shouldn't generalize. So I also looked around in other stores. Exactly the same picture! I found the whole thing a bit ridiculous.
