Climate contribution

Klimabeitrag

Dear Migros, I am a Migros child, I buy everything from you. Recently I've been asked when I pay whether I want to make a climate contribution. I was briefly tempted to click "yes", I attach great importance to climate compatibility and seasonal cooking, I also often buy organic products, and when it comes to meat, at least animal welfare.
Then I changed my mind: I would like you, dear Migros, to integrate the climate into your business activities! It's simply not enough if the customer ends up paying an extra €2, that's far too little! I would like you to integrate climate protection into all your activities because you know that it is important for your future success, indeed for your continued existence. I would like you to make this a goal for your producers, suppliers, cold stores, store fitting, offices, choice of electricity producer, etc.. I already pay more for products that are organic and produced in an animal-friendly way and it has been proven that you don't even pass on the extra money to the farmers who have to do the work, which I find an affront.
Paying a climate cent may make sense when flying, because there is no climate-friendly alternative (apart from not flying). But when it comes to shopping, that's the wrong question! It shows that you haven't understood it yet, what a shame!

Great contribution! I can sign it 100%! Migros has turned the climate problem into a line of business, but does very little about it, if you look at certain articles or packaging, it's all just marketing!!! In certain Migros stores, the organic selection is puny, which is why I shop more and more at the Coop!

Congratulations! You have just unlocked the "Greenwashing" level in our consumer game! 🥳

(Intentionally provocative but not to be taken entirely seriously 😉)

Hello Voanj
Migros pays almost CHF 5 million a year into the M climate fund for CO2 emissions caused directly by Migros. For example, contributions are made for CO2 emissions generated in the stores and distribution centers as well as during transport to the stores and for all unavoidable air transport: https://corporate.migros.ch/de/story/was-passiert-mit-dem-klimabeitrag
At the same time, it is a customer requirement: many customers have expressed the wish to become active in climate protection themselves. Migros is therefore offering customers the opportunity to make a contribution to climate protection and thus reduce CO2 emissions in the Migros supply chain with its voluntary offer: https://www.migros.ch/de/content/klimabeitrag
Best regards, Sarah

We consumers are being cheated and ripped off at every turn. Not just by Migros.
But if you've been shopping here 2-3 times a week for 40 years, you can sign this without hesitation.
In order to supposedly contribute to the reduction of plastic waste, you have to reach into your wallet for a bag at the checkout. On the other hand, drinks that until recently were only available in 1 or 1.5 liter containers are now only available in 0.5 liter bottles, every cucumber, bell pepper etc. is packaged in plastic, and pretty much everything is shrink-wrapped once or several times.
I know from my own experience that this is by no means all visible. Migros subsidiary Denner, for example, buys large quantities of ketchup abroad and has it "re-wrapped" here in smaller containers, but the waste doesn't appear anywhere in the statistics, the quantities of plastic and cardboard are unimaginable.
So stop with the damned nonsense "for the sake of nature" and finally admit that this is ultimately just to satisfy your greed for ever higher profits.
That wouldn't be the solution to the problem at hand, but it would finally show that you're no longer taking the piss out of your customers (something to do with honesty and self-criticism). As I said, not just Migros, but also
