I keep seeing dogs in shopping carts at Migros Glattzentrum. That's just awful.
According to food law, that's not allowed, is it?

I can only agree with you.
No, as far as I know, this is not allowed!
Except of course for guide dogs and assistance dogs!
Which is absolutely right!
Ok, for very small dogs that sit in their own basket or bag,
I am personally prepared to turn a blind eye?
A shopkeeper will be fined if he fails to comply.
The same should apply to consumers, with the exception of disabled people!

Hey everyone :)
Thank you very much for your feedback.
We absolutely agree with you. Dogs have no place in supermarkets.
The only exceptions are the legally prescribed reasons listed by @Frederica.
Our staff are instructed to intervene immediately if dogs are brought in without the reasons stated. Regardless of whether they are in a shopping cart or not. Please contact our staff on site the next time you see one so that the matter can be resolved.
Kind regards
Ivan

...there are so many things that are disgusting, e.g. people who "touch and occasionally sneeze on" everything in the fruit/vegetable department before buying and then put it back iiiiiiigiiiiiiiiiiiitt,
wipe their hands in the clothing department (don't want any "grease" stains on their newly purchased T-shirt, and when it comes to dogs, should their brain (if present) be switched on?
Small "ankle biters" in the bag don't bother me, but the bigger ones that are carried around.
Apparently (it has been clarified) dogs in locked containers are not allowed, as they are only hand luggage. Are dogs that are carried completely locked up while shopping also allowed in Migros? @foodforlive I am actually also against dogs in supermarkets, but you can see how we are moving further and further away from the natural... if you were to get your food where it comes from, you would find something completely different than a spoiled pet. Sterile food only exists in our heads....
If a dog in your private bag bothers you, then think about the fact that every bike has a seat for children. They will inevitably get their dirty street shoes on the pram. So a dog in the bag is not such a bad thing.
