Shortly before the bathing season, we need to look after our figure again. For this reason, cottage cheese consumption in our household is increasing dramatically. Migros cottage cheese is one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, there is still room for improvement when it comes to packaging. Why is cottage cheese not available in bags?
Packaging in bags is certainly cheaper and more environmentally friendly in terms of waste than the "tubs".

There are various reasons why cottage cheese is not sold in pouches. For example, the tubs guarantee a much longer shelf life. They are also stackable and therefore easier to transport and fill on the shelves. As they are often also used as a "to go" item, a resealable, more stable variant is more appropriate than a pouch. Even if the bag tends to be the more ecological option, we also have to consider the other factors and find the best middle ground.
Plastic packaging such as cups, trays, tubes, refill bags or jars often consist of composite materials (different types of plastic), which would contaminate the collection of recyclable materials too much, so that the collected material could ultimately no longer be recycled and would still have to end up back in the waste incineration plant. This is why this packaging must continue to be disposed of with household waste.
Another important reason is that we have to comply with certain hygiene regulations in our stores. For this reason, we can only take back resealable containers. The current cups do not seal tightly enough, which can lead to unwanted odor emissions. Nevertheless, we are happy to take your suggestion on board and will look into it. We are constantly working to reduce packaging wherever possible.
